Hello Friends Welcome to Edu Tech Gyan, my name is Satish Pandey, in this post we will tell you what is an M.2 SSD? and Advantages of M.2 SSD | Disadvantages of M.2 SSD Will tell about
The M.2 SSD (Solid-State Drive) is a form factor shaped like a glue stick. These SSDs are generally faster but more expensive than traditional 2.5-inch SSDs.
M.2 SSD requires M.2 connector slot to interface. It does not require cables. M.2 uses SATA or PCIe or NVMe interface protocols to transfer data. if you do not know that. what is an M.2 SSD? And Advantages of M.2 SSD | Disadvantages of M.2 SSD So in this post we will tell you about this.

What Is an M.2 SSD
M.2 SSD Disk is the equivalent of SSD M – SATA SSD Disk but it is an updated version. Which is faster than SATA SSD but despite being smaller, it supports both types of connectivity, you can also connect it to General SATA Cable. M.2 SSD Disk is like a PCI-E Express Port. But it is a little small.
Unlike standard HDDs and SSDs, M.2 drives aren’t connected to a motherboard via a cable, they’re instead plugged directly into the motherboard using a dedicated M.2 connector slot
The M.2 SSD (Solid-State Drive) is a form factor shaped like a glue stick. These SSDs are generally faster but more expensive than traditional 2.5-inch SSDs.
M.2 SSDs are used to make gaming laptops run faster as they are 2.5-inches only. They also take up less space than an SSD or hard drive.
M.2 SSDs come in storage sizes up to 2TB. Other form factors offer more capacity.

Advantages of M.2 SSD
Following are the benefits or advantages of M.2 SSD:
➨M.2 is a slimmer form factor for storage devices which is used along with either NVMe or SATA.
➨M.2 SSD offers cleaner and cluttered PC interior environment with fewer cables. This allows better airflow inside.
➨M.2 SSDs using either PCIe or NVMe offer faster speed compare to conventional SSDs.
➨It occupies less space and look cleaner.
➨M.2 SSDs are not more expensive than traditional SSDs.
➨M.2 SSDs are portable and are lighter in weight.
➨M.2 SSD offers more storage capacity than mSATA card.
➨M.2 drive using PCIe interface offers increased performance. Moreover M.2 NVMe SSDs offer increase in performance and reduced latency.
Disadvantages of M.2 SSD
Following are the drawbacks or disadvantages of M.2 SSD:
➨M.2 SSDs are expensive.
➨M.2 connector supports ports with some specific keys only.
➨The technologies are evolving and it will take some time before we get high performance based cheaper M.2 SSDs.
➨M.2 slots share same PCI bus in old motherboards which affects bus speed.
➨M.2 SSDs with SATA or PCIe have short life span compare to HDDs(Hard Disk Drives) .
